While the Punch Brothers recently closed out their 2010 tour schedule for the holidays, they'll be back on stage January 12 at the Iron Horse in Northampton, Massachusetts, kicking off a months-long tour of the United States. In the mean time, tune in to Mountain Stage on NPR stations across the US this weekend to hear the band perform several tracks off their latest Nonesuch album, Antifogmatic: "You Are," "Don’t Need No," "Alex," "Next to the Trash," "This Is the Song (Good Luck)," and "Rye Whiskey." The show was recorded live in concert at the Culture Center Theater in Charleston, West Virginia, on November 14. Also on the show are the Weepies, Stringdusters, and Trampled By Turtles. To find out where Mountain Stage is playing near you, visit mountainstage.org.

Speaking of NPR, it was exactly five years ago this Sunday that The Black Keys, in their pre-Nonesuch days, appeared on NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday to discuss their then-new album, Rubber Factory. They were "one of Fat Possom's hottest commodities," according to the show's host, Liane Hansen. You can listen again at npr.org.

As noted earlier today in the Nonesuch Journal, the band will be the musical guests on Saturday Night Live on January 8, performing songs from their latest Nonesuch release, Brothers.

Emmylou Harris hosts the special benefit event Miracle on Music Row at Corroboree Spa in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday morning. The event supports Bonaparte's Retreat, which provides nurturing foster care for shelter dogs. The event kicks off at 9 AM with a Music Row Dog parade!

---

The Mark Morris Dance Group concludes its run of The Hard Nut, the 1991 retelling of The Nutcracker, at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, New York, with performances tonight, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon.

Reviewing the production for the Wall Street Journal, critic Robert Greskovic writes: "The Nutcracker, despite it's popularity with ticket buyers, can prove a tough nut to crack theatrically. Mr. Morris's The Hard Nut manages to do the trick and then some."

Due to severe winter weather in her hometown of Kent, Ohio, Jessica Lea Mayfield is unable to travel to Boston, New York, or Washington, DC, this weekend to open for Justin Townes Earle.

---

Jeff Bridges, the star of Tron: Legacy and the soon-to-be release film True Grit, hosts Saturday Night Live this weekend. Bridges joined SNL cast member Fred Armisen in some promos for the show, in which Bridges gives a unique impression of Joel and Ethan Coen, the directors of True Grit. You can watch those below.

Bridges has just been nominated for a Chicago Film Critics Award for the film, as has his co-star, Hailee Steinfeld, for Best Supporting Actress and Most Promising Performer; the Coen brothers for Best Adapted Screenplay; Roger Deakins for Best Cinematography; and Carter Burwell for Best Original Score.

The soundtrack for the film, featuring Burwell's score, is due out on Nonesuch on Tuesday and is available now for pre-order in the Nonesuch Store.
