Fresh off their performance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night, the Punch Brothers (pictured at left, with Leno and fellow guests Jonah Hill and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, via Jay Leno's Twitter) hopped on the last plane for Telluride, Colorado, for the 37th Telluride Bluegrass Festival this weekend. The group performs songs from their latest Nonesuch album, Antifogmatic, released earlier this week, in a Sunday afternoon set on the Main Stage, and closes out the festival with a NightGrass performance at the Sheridan Opera House. The Telluride festival holds a special place in Punch Brothers lore as the site where band mates Chris Thile and Noam Pikelny first met back in 2005.

I Am Love, the new film from Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, starring Tilda Swinton and featuring the music of John Adams, opens today in theaters in New York City and Los Angeles, with screens across the country to be added next weekend. After a string of New York City shows that culminated in last night's late-night Jump 'n' Funk event at (Le) Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village, Tony Allen and his band head to the West Coast to bring their North American tour to a close with two festival performances this weekend. On Saturday, they headline the World Music Festival at Snoqualmie Casino’s Mountain View Plaza in Seattle. On Sunday, Allen and the band take part in the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds in Boonville, California. Allen will begin the European leg of his tour in July.

Laurie Anderson and husband Lou Reed are featured as this year’s Queen Mermaid and King Neptune at the annual Mermaid Parade in Coney Island, Brooklyn, on Saturday. They are presiding over the day's festivities—with their musically gifted dog Lolabelle in tow—held in celebration of the start of the summer season. Anderson’s new album, Homeland, to which Reed and Lolabelle contributed as well, is set for release on Tuesday. David Byrne appears at today’s sold-out Cities, Bicycles, and the Future of Getting Around forum at the Claudia Cassidy Theater in Chicago, following a Bike to Work Rally. A longtime cycling advocate, Byrne will speak for about 10 minutes at the free panel alongside civic leaders, urban theorists, and additional advocate and Byrne will each speak for about 10 minutes followed by a Q&A with the audience. Byrne spoke with the Chicago Sun-Times about the event and his advocacy for alternative transportation solutions.

Fresh off their performance at the Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, the Carolina Chocolate Drops complete their three-show stay in Texas with a concert at The Parish in Austin tonight, with the Lost Pines supporting. The group performed in Dallas and Houston earlier this week. The Houston Press, reviewing sold-out shows in that city, says that the group, "so much more than just a string and jug band," performed "as a highly polished three-piece."

The Drops travel to Telluride, Colorado, to finish the weekend with two performances at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. On Saturday, supported by the Hillbenders, the group performs one of the festival’s NightGrass shows at the Fly Me to the Moon Saloon, and follows up with an afternoon set at the Main Stage. Shawn Colvin continues her tour with two weekend performances. On Friday, she performs at The National in Richmond, Virginia, and on Sunday, she appears on the Rainbow Stage as part of the 2010 Clearwater Folk Festival in Croton-on-Hudson, New York.

Bill Frisell and Brad Mehldau appear as a duo tonight at Residenzschloss in Ludwigsburg, Germany, as the second part of the Ludwigsburg Music Festival Song Conversation series. Frisell performs there again on Saturday, this time with Joe Henry, in the third part of the series.

Earlier this month, Mehldau concluded the first of two seasons as curator of the first-ever jazz series at Wigmore Hall in London with his own solo performance there. The Financial Times gave the concert a perfect five stars, calling it "a breathtaking solo performance that took full advantage of the Wigmore’s pin-drop acoustics." Read the review at ft.com.

Joshua Redman, continuing to tour with his new collective group James Farm, featuring Aaron Parks, Matt Penman, and Eric Harland, complete a four-night, seven-show stay at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley in Seattle with two-set performances tonight and Saturday and a single, final set on Sunday. The group begins touring throughout Canada later this week.

Following James Farm's recent performances in Santa Cruz, the San Jose Mercury News exclaimed that the band had revealed "its amazing potential" at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center. "Its members knew that rare things were happening," writes reviewer Richard Scheinin. "So did the audience." Read more at mercurynews.com.

Just last Sunday, Catherine Zeta-Jones picked up a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music. One week later, this Sunday, audiences will have their last chance to see Zeta-Jones and co-star Angela Lansbury in the first-ever Broadway revival of the musical. Their performances live on, of course, in the cast album, released earlier this year on Nonesuch and available in the Nonesuch Store. Following Sunday's performance, the show takes a brief hiatus, with Broadway veterans Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch joining the cast when performances resume on July 13. TIME magazine's Richard Corliss recently examined Sondheim's relationship with Broadway. Sondheim "might be the most influential composer of the past 50 years," Corliss contends. "Of that period, he surely is the great American playwright." Read the complete article at time.com.

Watkins follows up with a Sunday night show at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, Massachusetts, with Kina Grannis opening, and will continue to tour the US extensively throughout the summer.

    Vagabon (aka Laetitia Tamko) will support the band Crumb on tour this October. The shows begin in California—Santa Cruz, Oakland, and Sacramento—then head to Salt Lake City and Denver and on to Texas—Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and El Paso—and Albuquerque and back to California to close out the tour in Santa Ana, San Diego, and Los Angeles.
