Steve Reich, whose latest Nonesuch album, Double Sextet / 2x5, is out Tuesday, is composer-in-residence at the Numusic Festival in Stavanger, Norway, which runs through next weekend. This Saturday, the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra will perform Reich's City Life in the Stavanger Konserthuset. Next week, the composer will be in attendance for events with the Stavanger University jazz department and the Stavanger Symphony Ensemble featuring works by Reich.

Bang on a Can, which performs 2x5 on the forthcoming album, launches the inaugural Philadelphia run of the Bang on a Can Marathon this Sunday. So Percussion will kick off the ten-hour event at Philadelphia's World Café Live at 2 PM with Part 1 of Reich's famed 1971 piece Drumming.

---

The Black Keys continue their US tour with Kings of Leon and The Whigs at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte, North Carolina, tonight, and  the Virginia Beach Amphitheater on Saturday. The video for "Tighten Up," off The Black Keys' album Brothers, is up for Breakthrough Video at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, airing live on MTV Sunday night at 9 PM ET.

---

Carolina Chocolate Drops follow last night's performance at the Americana Honors & Awards ceremony in Nashville, at which they received a standing ovation, with three weekend tour stops: Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, Massachusetts, tonight; Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, Massachusetts, on Saturday; and The Egg in Albany, New York, on Sunday.

Previewing tonight's show in Fall River, the Providence Journal says: "The Carolina Chocolate Drops prove that you can preserve tradition, educate people on history and have a whale of a time all in one night. Their authentic take on the black mid-Atlantic string-band tradition blew the doors off the 2007 folk festival in Newport, and since then they’ve only gotten bigger and better." Rhys Chatham, whose Nonesuch debut album, A Crimson Grail, is out on Tuesday, performs with his Trio at Buster's in Lexington, Kentucky, as part of the Boomslang Festival on Sunday. The Trio features guitarist David Daniell (the concertmaster at the Lincoln Center performance of A Crimson Grail captured on the album) and drummer Tim Barnes.

First up is a symposium on collaboration across media, for professional artists, this afternoon in the Suzanne Roberts Theatre. This evening, Glass will join choreographer Lucinda Childs to discuss Dance, their 1979 collaboration with Sol LeWitt, in the Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater.

---

Emmylou Harris, who performed last night at the Americana Honors & Awards show in Nashville, is due to join country music legend Charlie Louvin for his Americana Music Festival set at The Rutlege in Nashville tonight, performing the Louvin Brothers song "If I Could Only Win Your Love." Harris recorded the song on her 1975 major label debut, Pieces of the Sky.

Wanda Jackson, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the American Honors & Awards in Nashville last night, performs at Cosmic Charlie's in Lexington, Kentucky, Sunday night. Her new, Jack White-produced album, The Party Ain't Over, will be released by Third Man / Nonesuch Records on January 25, 2011.

Punch Brothers close out a week of big news with a show at the Bass Concert Hall at the University of Texas in Austin tonight. As reported yesterday in the Nonesuch Journal, the band will perform with Steve Martin on The Late Show with David Letterman on November 4 and has added new tour dates with the Dave Matthews Band and Dierks Bentley, as well as a special performance alongside T Bone Burnett at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. Jon Brion, who produced Punch Brothers' latest Nonesuch album, Antifogmatic, will play a special opening set at the band’s LA show in October.
