Concerts and talks of the 68th Ojai Music Festival, of which Jeremy Denk is 2014 Music Director, will be streamed live and archived at the Festival's site, June 12–15. Ojai Live features an enhanced HD five-camera shoot and intermission interviews with artists and special guests hosted by Fred Child of Performance Today. Highlights include talks and multiple performances from Denk, including the world premiere a new opera for which he wrote the libretto, and Timo Andres.

Concerts and talks of the 68th Ojai Music Festival, which takes place next week, June 12–15, with Jeremy Denk as 2014 Music Director, will be streamed live at ojaifestival.org and archived on the site after the Festival. Ojai Live, which streams Festival concerts from the site, this year features an enhanced HD five-camera shoot and intermission interviews with artists and special guests hosted by Fred Child of American Public Media’s Performance Today.

Ojai Live begins streaming at 1 PM PT on Thursday, June 12, with an interview with Jeremy Denk, part of the Ojai Talks series hosted by Ara Guzelimian, followed by Denk's concert with Uri Caine Ensemble featuring works by Janáček, Schubert, and Caine.

On Friday, June 13, the streaming resumes at 1 PM PT with several Ojai Talks in memory of Charles Rosen, including Denk and his Nonesuch label mate pianist/composer Timo Andres. That night, at 8 PM PT, comes the world premiere of The Classical Style: An Opera (of Sorts), the new opera with libretto by Jeremy Denk and music by Steven Stucky. For the night owls, there's a 10:30 PM concert of Uri Caine's reimagining of George Gershwin music.

The music starts again early the next morning, on Saturday, June 14, with an 11 AM PT duo concert from Jeremy Denk and violinist Jennifer Frautschi performing Ives's complete Sonatas for Violin and Piano. That evening, at 6 PM PT, Timo Andres joins the New York–based orchestra The Knights to perform his re-composition of Mozart's "Coronation" Concerto, heard on 2013 Nonesuch album Home Stretch. The Knights return at 8 PM to perform works by Boccherini, Ives, Feldman, Stockhausen, Weill, and members of the orchestra join Ojai Festival singers continue to make music late into the night with a 10:30 PM performance of works by Bach and Feldman.

For the final day of the festival, Sunday, June 15, the live stream begins at 11 AM with The Knights performing Mozart's "Jupiter" Symphony and what's being described as "a mélange of musical canons and canon-esque miscellany" devised by Jeremy Denk with music by Josquin, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Kurtág, Purcell, P.D.Q. Bach, Uri Caine, and J.S. Bach. Starting at 5:30 PM PT, Denk joins The Knights and Ojai Festival singers for program featuring Ligeti's Piano Études Books I & II, as heard on his Nonesuch debut album, Ligeti/Beethoven; Ives's Psalm 90; and Beethoven's Fantasia in C Minor for Piano, Chorus, and Orchestra, Op. 80 ("Choral Fantasy").

    The Library of Congress has acquired the collection of manuscripts, instruments, costumes, video and audio recordings, and more from Kronos Quartet and its non-profit organization, Kronos Performing Arts Association. “It’s gratifying to know that Kronos’ legacy will be preserved in perpetuity alongside the manuscripts and other treasures of so many other influential musicians from the US and around the world," said KPAA Executive Director Janet Cowperthwaite. "We are perhaps even more excited to reflect upon all the musicians and scholars who will have access to these materials in years to come, informing their own work and carrying Kronos’ inspiration and influence into the future.” The Library also appointed Kronos founder, artistic director, and violinist David Harrington as the Kluge Chair in Modern Culture and inducted Kronos’ 1992 album Pieces of Africa into the National Recording Registry.

    Vagabon (aka Laetitia Tamko) will support the band Crumb on tour this October. The shows begin in California—Santa Cruz, Oakland, and Sacramento—then head to Salt Lake City and Denver and on to Texas—Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and El Paso—and Albuquerque and back to California to close out the tour in Santa Ana, San Diego, and Los Angeles.
