Punch Brothers had already been planning a full spring and summer tour across the US, in support of their forthcoming album, Antifogmatic, including a supporting slot with Josh Ritter in Boston next week and sets at the Bonnaroo, Telluride Bluegrass, Caramoor, and Newport Folk festivals. Now comes word that the band will open for comedian, actor, author, and Grammy-winning banjo player Steve Martin for several dates in June, July, and August.

Punch Brothers had already been planning a full spring and summer tour across the United States, in support of their forthcoming Nonesuch release, Antifogmatic, including a supporting slot with Josh Ritter in Boston next week and sets at the Bonnaroo, Telluride Bluegrass, Caramoor, and Newport Folk festivals. Now comes word that the band will open for comedian, actor, author, playwright, and Grammy-winning banjo player Steve Martin for five dates this June, July, and August.

The first show with Martin, who will be performing with the Steep Canyon Rangers, will take place at the Ravinia Festival outside Chicago on June 12, followed by a June 13 show at the State Theatre in Minneapolis and a June 16 gig at Red Butte Garden in Salt Lake City. A little more than a month of separate touring later, the groups will reunite to play at the Overture Center in Madison, Wisconsin, July 27, and the Sun Valley Center for the Arts on August 3.
