Rhiannon Giddens has announced new dates on her headlining tour in celebration of her highly praised second solo album, Freedom Highway. The sixteen new tour stops include shows in Baltimore, Tampa, and Cincinnati. See below for all of the currently scheduled shows. Tickets for the new dates will go on sale this Friday, February 2, at 10am local time. For all the latest, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

Freedom Highway made several of 2017's year-end-best lists, including those of NPR Music and Rolling Stone. Giddens co-produced the album with multi-instrumentalist Dirk Powell in his Breaux Bridge, Louisiana studio, with the bulk of recording done in wooden rooms built prior to the Civil War. Freedom Highway is available now on iTunes, Amazon, and in the Nonesuch Store and can be heard on Spotify and Apple Music.

The MacArthur Foundation recently announced Rhiannon Giddens as a recipient of their prestigious fellowship. The MacArthur Fellowship is a five-year grant "to individuals who show exceptional creativity in their work and the prospect for still more in the future." Giddens has a recurring role in CMT’s series Nashville, the new season of which began earlier this month.

The Library of Congress has acquired the collection of manuscripts, instruments, costumes, video and audio recordings, and more from Kronos Quartet and its non-profit organization, Kronos Performing Arts Association. “It’s gratifying to know that Kronos’ legacy will be preserved in perpetuity alongside the manuscripts and other treasures of so many other influential musicians from the US and around the world," said KPAA Executive Director Janet Cowperthwaite. "We are perhaps even more excited to reflect upon all the musicians and scholars who will have access to these materials in years to come, informing their own work and carrying Kronos’ inspiration and influence into the future.” The Library also appointed Kronos founder, artistic director, and violinist David Harrington as the Kluge Chair in Modern Culture and inducted Kronos’ 1992 album Pieces of Africa into the National Recording Registry.
