Sara Watkins closes out her months-long tour as a guest band member with the Decemberists outside the band's hometown of Portland, Oregon, at McMenamins Edgefield Amphitheatre's Concerts on the Lawn tonight. But there's not much in the way of down time for Watkins, as she heads straight into her next set of performances on Sunday: with Garrison Keillor and the cast of public radio's A Prairie Home Companion for their cross-country Summer Love Tour.

Sara Watkins closes out her months-long tour as a guest band member with the Decemberists outside the band's hometown of Portland, Oregon, at McMenamins Edgefield Amphitheatre's Concerts on the Lawn tonight, following last night's penultimate tour date there. Noting Watkins's contribution to the Decemberists' live shows this year, the band's bassist Nate Query tells Straight: "Having somebody like Sara out who’s just one of the premier American singers and pickers has been really fun. She’s inspired us to do more backstage jamming and late-night jam sessions and stuff like that."

There's not much in the way of down time for Watkins, as she heads straight into her next set of performances on Sunday: with Garrison Keillor and the cast of public radio's A Prairie Home Companion for their Summer Love Tour.

Garrison Keillor and crew have launched their second-annual cross-country summer tour, which will take the popular radio host and his pals from Alaska to Alabama over the next two weeks. Watkins was along for the ride on last summer's inaugural tour and returns for the tour's final nine stops this time around, starting Sunday at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer, Alaska.

The concert tours will consist of "evenings of passionate duets, hot jazz, Catchup, English Majors and Poesy" and feature Watkins—a frequent guest on the Prairie Home Companion radio show and, earlier this year, a guest host—the Guy’s All-Star Shoe Band and sound effects wizard Mr. Fred Newman. While these are not APHC broadcast shows, they will include such favorite Prairie Home Companion elements as Guy Noir Private Eye, the Cowboys Dusty and Lefty, and all the latest News from Lake Wobegon.

For more information on the Summer Love Tour, visit prairiehome.org. For more on all of Watkins upcoming shows, including her performance next month with L.A.'s The Section Quartet performing Radiohead's seminal album The Bends, go to nonesuch.com/on-tour.

To pick up a copy of Watkins' self-titled Nonesuch debut album, head to the Nonesuch Store, where orders include high-quality, 320 kbps MP3s of the album at checkout.
