To mark the release of Shawn Colvin's new Live album earlier this summer, Nonesuch Records teamed up with Martin Guitar to give away a brand-new X-Series guitar, signed by Shawn. Everyone who purchased a copy of the album from the Nonesuch Store by July 21 was eligible, and anyone who e-mailed in by that date asking to be added to the list was entered to win. The contest is now complete and we're happy to report the winner: Ms. Megan Crotty of Pleasant Garden, North Carolina.

Megan tells us her appreciation for Shawn's music goes all the way back to the singer/songwriter's earliest album, and it's always been a family affair. "I first got to know Shawn Colvin through my sister, Kim," Megan says. "She had Steady On. It was love at first listen. I love her unique voice. That, combined with the music and lyrics makes her one of my favorites."

In addition to the signed guitar, three runners-up were awarded a signed copy of the new Live CD. The album, recorded over three-nights at San Francisco's famous jazz club Yoshi's, features songs from Colvin's incredible two-decade career, including her Nonesuch debut, These Four Walls, as well as her take on songs by Robbie Robertson, Gnarls Barkley, and Talking Heads.

For information on where to see Shawn live, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour. Several dates through October and into November have just been added, and up next is the Art & Soul Festival in Oakland, California, on August 15.

The Library of Congress has acquired the collection of manuscripts, instruments, costumes, video and audio recordings, and more from Kronos Quartet and its non-profit organization, Kronos Performing Arts Association. “It’s gratifying to know that Kronos’ legacy will be preserved in perpetuity alongside the manuscripts and other treasures of so many other influential musicians from the US and around the world," said KPAA Executive Director Janet Cowperthwaite. "We are perhaps even more excited to reflect upon all the musicians and scholars who will have access to these materials in years to come, informing their own work and carrying Kronos’ inspiration and influence into the future.” The Library also appointed Kronos founder, artistic director, and violinist David Harrington as the Kluge Chair in Modern Culture and inducted Kronos’ 1992 album Pieces of Africa into the National Recording Registry.
