Following the success of their recent tour of the UK and Ireland, Shawn Colvin and Mary Chapin Carpenter will once again be setting out on tour together. These longtime friends will share the stage as an intimate duo, performing material spanning their vast catalogs as well as some of their favorite songs. The first handful of shows have been announced and are posted below, starting with a February 21 concert at the Knight Theatre in Charlotte, North Carolina. Additional dates are still to be announced. Ticket sales for some venues begin as early as this Friday, December 7, though on sale dates vary by venue. Shawn Colvin is in New York City to perform at the Beacon Theatre tonight as part of the WFUV Holiday Cheer, a concert featuring the stellar line-up of Lucinda Williams, Shelby Lynne, Steve Earle, and more, all to benefit listener-supported radio station WFUV, 90.7 FM. Colvin then launches a series of US headlining shows, making stops in North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Connecticut, New Jersey, and upstate New York before the end of the year. The New Year brings a number of additional dates, included Colvin's annual residencies at Yoshi's in San Francisco and The Dakota in Minneapolis, as well as a return to Australia.

Earlier this year, Colvin released her eighth studio album, All Fall Down, on Nonesuch Records and her memoir, Diamond in the Rough, via HarperCollins. Both the CD and book are available in the Nonesuch Store, where they are 34% off the suggested retail price, about 20% off the everyday discounted price shown on the site, as part of the Store anniversary sale; the total savings will be reflected at checkout.

The Library of Congress has acquired the collection of manuscripts, instruments, costumes, video and audio recordings, and more from Kronos Quartet and its non-profit organization, Kronos Performing Arts Association. “It’s gratifying to know that Kronos’ legacy will be preserved in perpetuity alongside the manuscripts and other treasures of so many other influential musicians from the US and around the world," said KPAA Executive Director Janet Cowperthwaite. "We are perhaps even more excited to reflect upon all the musicians and scholars who will have access to these materials in years to come, informing their own work and carrying Kronos’ inspiration and influence into the future.” The Library also appointed Kronos founder, artistic director, and violinist David Harrington as the Kluge Chair in Modern Culture and inducted Kronos’ 1992 album Pieces of Africa into the National Recording Registry.
