Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell made their Austin City Limits duo debut, performing together for the first time on the ACL stage, when the duo's set aired on PBS stations across the United States on Saturday. The performance had been recorded at The Moody Theater in downtown Austin this past June as part of a world tour supporting their new album, Old Yellow Moon. Though both artists have appeared on Austin City Limits in the past, and in fact appeared on the same episode in 1983, this will be their first time on the show together. You can watch a preview of their performance below.

“It’s great to be back at the world’s greatest and longest-running music show,” Harris said during the performance.

She and Crowell will be featured again on ACL as part of a special show on Saturday, November 23, featuring the best music performances from this year’s Americana Music Association Honors and Awards ceremony, held earlier this year at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. In addition to performing Kris Kristofferson's "Chase the Feeling" (featured on Old Yellow Moon) and leading the all-star finale performance of the Crowell co-penned 1978 Harris hit "Leaving Louisiana in Broad Daylight" at the ceremony, Harris and Crowell took home the awards for Duo of the Year and Album of the Year.

The two artists are currently touring the North America with music from that award-winning album, Old Yellow Moon, performing in Portland and Seattle before heading to Canada for a week of shows. Richard Thompson is opening along the way. For details and tickets, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

The Library of Congress has acquired the collection of manuscripts, instruments, costumes, video and audio recordings, and more from Kronos Quartet and its non-profit organization, Kronos Performing Arts Association. “It’s gratifying to know that Kronos’ legacy will be preserved in perpetuity alongside the manuscripts and other treasures of so many other influential musicians from the US and around the world," said KPAA Executive Director Janet Cowperthwaite. "We are perhaps even more excited to reflect upon all the musicians and scholars who will have access to these materials in years to come, informing their own work and carrying Kronos’ inspiration and influence into the future.” The Library also appointed Kronos founder, artistic director, and violinist David Harrington as the Kluge Chair in Modern Culture and inducted Kronos’ 1992 album Pieces of Africa into the National Recording Registry.
