Yola has released the video for her song "Shady Grove," from her album Walk Through Fire. The video, directed by Jessie Craig, includes footage from Yola's appearance at this year's Glastonbury Festival. The video "explores something equally untouched by most of music: the beauty and fashion routine of a Black woman," says Refinery 29, which premiered the video. "The moments the camera catches her psyching herself up before she steps out feels like an intimate look into what it takes to keep Yola going." Watch it here.

Yola has premiered her latest video, for her song "Shady Grove," via Refinery 29. The song is featured on her critically acclaimed, Dan Auerbach–produced debut record, Walk Through Fire, released on his Easy Eye Sound label. The video, which you can watch below, was directed by Jessie Craig and features a split screen narrative and includes footage from Yola's appearance at this year's Glastonbury Festival.

"I love this video," Yola says. "Jessie did such a wonderful job putting it together. I love the dual narrative which replays the start and end of my day in unison. I wanted an honest and unique visual for the song, which is about a time when I was searching for an oasis away from the draining and toxic people I had in my life at that time."

The video "explores something equally untouched by most of music: the beauty and fashion routine of a Black woman," says Refinery 29's Courtney E. Smith. "The moments the camera catches her psyching herself up before she steps out feels like an intimate look into what it takes to keep Yola going."

To pick up a copy of Walk Through Fire, head to your local record store, iTunes, Amazon, the Easy Eye Sound Store, or the Nonesuch Store, where CD and vinyl orders include a download of the complete album at checkout. You can also hear the album now on Spotify and Apple Music.

Yola performed to a huge crowd in her Newport Folk Festival set last weekend and, according to Rolling Stone, became "the Voice of 2019 Newport." She gave a show stopping performance with supergroup The Highwomen, sharing the stage with Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris, and Amanda Shires, as well as Sheryl Crow. Yola also joined Newport's ♀♀♀♀: The Collaboration, performing on "Strong Enough" with Maggie Rogers and Sheryl Crow and "9 To 5" alongside an all-female cast of performers, led by Dolly Parton herself. Yola features as a guest on the forthcoming Highwomen album, which will be released on September 6.

Yola is currently touring with Lake Street Dive and will be on the road for the rest of 2019, with an extensive tour of the US, performing with various artists. She will embark on a seven-show run with Kacey Musgraves, starting at the Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, Missouri, on September 4, followed by sold-out shows in St. Louis, Cleveland, Vienna (Virginia), and Toronto, culminating in two nights at The Fillmore in New Orleans, September 27 and 28. Yola will also open for Musgraves at The Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on October 25. Yola will perform at Farm Aid, The Hollywood Bowl with Lord Huron and Shakey Graves, Lincoln Center Out of Doors alongside Patty Griffin, and Live On The Green in Nashville. She will perform with Old Crow Medicine Show in Nashville for New Year's Eve and will take part in Brandi Carlile's Girls Just Wanna Weekend in Mexico in 2020. The Library of Congress has acquired the collection of manuscripts, instruments, costumes, video and audio recordings, and more from Kronos Quartet and its non-profit organization, Kronos Performing Arts Association. “It’s gratifying to know that Kronos’ legacy will be preserved in perpetuity alongside the manuscripts and other treasures of so many other influential musicians from the US and around the world," said KPAA Executive Director Janet Cowperthwaite. "We are perhaps even more excited to reflect upon all the musicians and scholars who will have access to these materials in years to come, informing their own work and carrying Kronos’ inspiration and influence into the future.” The Library also appointed Kronos founder, artistic director, and violinist David Harrington as the Kluge Chair in Modern Culture and inducted Kronos’ 1992 album Pieces of Africa into the National Recording Registry.
