Wilco's TransCanada tour doesn't take place till February 2010, but Toronto fans get an early look and listen this week as the band plays the first of two consecutive sold-out sets at that city's Massey Hall with opener Liam Finn tonight.

John Stirratt, the band's bass player and, with Jeff Tweedy, a founding member, spoke with Canada's National Post in advance of the shows. He talks about his long history with Jeff and the band, and discusses the recording of their latest release, Wilco (the album), while down in New Zealand, working with Neil Finn, Liam's father, on a separate project. He even gives a hint at what the future holds for the next record. You can read the interview at network.nationalpost.com.

The current North American tour comes to a close with two concerts in the band's hometown of Chicago at the University of Illinois Chicago Pavilion this Sunday and Monday.

A.V. Club Chicago spoke with Tweedy in the lead-up to the concerts in what turned out to be not your typical interview. For the piece, A.V. Club's David Wolinsky visited a number of web sites on which people had left anonymous comments, both good and bad, about the band, and now offers Tweedy a chance to respond. Topics range from the absurd to the sublime and run everywhere in between, from Tweedy's hair care products to chance meetings with rather excitable fans, clearing up misperceptions and meeting expectations.

"We literally put 15 minutes of noise on a record [Yankee Hotel Foxtrot] that did not raise an eyebrow," he says in response to one particular quip, "but if you make a pop song with Feist on it [for Wilco (the album)], people are going to cry like the sky’s falling."

On Monday night, Wilco performed at the Wexner Center's Mershon Auditorium in Columbus, Ohio. The Columbus Dispatch's Curt Schieber describes it as "a relaxed but passionate 90-plus minute show." He explains: "One of the great pleasures in a Wilco concert is sharing the comfort and commitment with which Tweedy addresses a body of work that traces a musical and personal odyssey."
