Audra McDonald and Mandy Patinkin were special guests on The Colbert Report, as the show threw what it humbly dubbed the "Wedding of the Century." Host Stephen Colbert officiated an on-air wedding ceremony for a couple whose wedding plans were thwarted by the US government shutdown. To help celebrate the newlyweds, Patinkin offered a non-denominational Jewish blessing and McDonald sang Billy Idol's "White Wedding" for the couple's first dance. Mandy Patinkin continued the holiday sing-along at The Colbert Report when he joined Stephen Colbert and REM's Michael Stipe to sing the traditional carol "Good King Wenceslas" on Comedy Central last night. The trio performance closed out an episode of the show in which Patinkin and Colbert engaged in a spirited discussion of his role as Saul Berenson on the hit Showtime series Homeland and much more. It also follows the previous night's duet between Colbert and Audra McDonald on "Baby It's Cold Outside."

Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin reunite on Broadway for An Evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin, which begins in previews at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre tonight. Patinkin, who has released five solo albums on Nonesuch Records, and LuPone, who can be heard on Nonesuch's 2006 Broadway cast recording of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, first appeared together giving Tony Award–winning performances in the original production of Evita. The Los Angeles Times says: “These two music and theatre legends deliver a sparsely elegant master class in the art of conjuring emotional truth in dramatic song.”

Mandy Patinkin celebrated the 20th anniversary of his first performance at New York's Public Theater last month with a two-week run of concerts at the famed venue. Starting this Thursday, Mandy takes the show to the UK for a ten-day residency at the Duke of Yorks Theatre in London's West End. While the New York performances included three distinct programs—Dress Casual, Celebrating Sondheim, and Mamaloshen—the London shows are simply titled Mandy Patinkin in Concert and will feature works by a range of celebrated songwriters and composers.

Mandy Patinkin begins a two-week residency at Manhattan's Public Theater tonight in honor of the 20th anniversary of his first concert at the esteemed New York City venue. Accompanied by pianist Paul Ford, Mandy will alternate among three different programs, beginning tonight with Dress Casual, featuring music by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, Harry Chapin, and others; Celebrating Sondheim, a journey through the music and lyrics of the legendary composer; and Mamaloshen, an exploration of traditional, classic, and contemporary songs sung entirely in Yiddish.

Mandy Patinkin opens the Classic Stage Company's 2008–09 season tonight, starring as Prospero in William Shakespeare's The Tempest. The company's artistic director, Brian Kulick, directs the production, which will run for a limited engagement, through October 12. Patinkin spoke with the Poughkeepsie Journal about the role and some of the other memorable ones from his career, naming as two favorites Inigo Montoya from the film The Princess Bride and Georges Seurat in Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George.

The show, choreographed by fellow Broadway legend Ann Reinking, will include songs by Stephen Sondheim and Richard Rodgers among many others.
