Sam Amidon, who is currently touring Europe in support of his new album, Bright Sunny South, has performed the album track "As I Roved Out," for The Line of Best Fit. On the new album, Amidon delves "further in compelling expressions that draw jazz and folk influences together to an entirely unique place," says the site. Watch that performance and his recent set for ABC Radio in Australia, which has named Bright Sunny South its Album of the Week. The Daily Telegraph and Irish Times give the album four stars.

Sam Amidon, who is currently touring Europe in support of his Nonesuch Records debut album, Bright Sunny South, recently performed a song from the album, "As I Roved Out," for The Line of Best Fit. On the new album, the Vermont-born, London-based musician delves "further in compelling expressions that draw jazz and folk influences together to an entirely unique place," says the site's Paul Bridgewater. Watch what Bridgewater calls Amidon's "haunting performance" of the tune for Best Fit below. (You can watch the official music video for the song here.)

Following tonight's sold-out show at Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, Amidon heads back to London for an album-release show at Bush Hall. It's the first of four shows in the UK, including stops in Bristol, Guildford, and Bury. He launches a US tour next month. For additional details and tickets, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

ABC Radio in Australia has named Bright Sunny South its Album of the Week. While in Australia earlier this year, he stopped by the ABC studios to talk with The Inside Sleeve about the new album and perform two songs off the album: "As I Roved Out" and "Short Life." You can watch the whole segment below.

Coming on the heels of recent four-star album reviews in the Guardian, musicOMH, Mojo, and Q, Bright Sunny South has earned additional four-star reviews from the Daily Telegraph and Irish Times.

"Amidon reinterprets traditional material with a quiet intensity that makes ancient songs sound contemporary," writes the Telegraph. "There’s a quality of understatement to his vocal delivery but all kinds of shades of nuanced emotion emerge in arrangements where strange things shift beneath delicate acoustic surfaces, washes of lateral jazz and startling flourishes of experimental rock."

"Every sound, every word is filtered through his knowingness, his singular interpretation of these songs washed in time," says the Irish Times in its four-star review. "This is intriguing, beguiling music, brilliantly different and yet paradoxically, strangely familiar."

To pick up a copy of Bright Sunny South, head to the Nonesuch Store, where CD orders include a download of the complete album at checkout.
