David Byrne will be among 140 artists contributing to The Seed Project, in which participants create works of art starting with a humble bag of grass seeds, in an effort to promote sustainability. The resulting works will be on display in New York City for five weeks, opening Thursday, October 25, at the Winkleman Gallery.

To coincide with the reissue of David Byrne's The Knee Plays—due out November 6—comes the launch of kneeplays.com. The site contains pages of never-before-released materials on the piece, including an essay by David Byrne on its origins as a collaboration with director Robert Wilson, sketches from the theatrical production, and a slideshow of stills from the premiere, as well as audio clips from the new CD. On the CD are the 13 tracks from the original score plus seven previously unavailable bonus tracks.

On Saturday, October 6, David Byrne presented “How New Yorkers Ride Bikes” at New York's Town Hall as part of the weekend-long New Yorker festival. Watch the video feed from his bike, complete with audio commentary, as he rode through the streets of midtown on his way to the event.

David Byrne has been listening to an advance copy of Caetano’s new CD, Cê. "It’s another radical shift of direction for him," he reports. "This time I guess you could say it’s an immersion in the land of experimental indie rock. And it’s probably the best indie rock record to come out this year. He may disagree with that categorization, but though not completely accurate it gives some idea what the record sounds like."

Brian Eno and David Byrne's My Life in the Bush of Ghosts came out in 1981. It has now been re-issued in a new package, with extensive liner notes and photos, featuring 7 previously unreleased tracks from the original album and a film by influential artist Bruce Conner.
