Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway made their Austin City Limits debut on PBS stations across the US over the weekend. “This is something I've dreamed of for so long,” Tuttle says. “I've been watching Austin City Limits since I was a little kid.” She and the band performed four songs from their acclaimed new album, City of Gold and two from their 2021 Grammy-winning debut album, Crooked Tree. Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, who took home three IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards last week, have released a video for “Alice in the Bluegrass,” from their new album, City of Gold. You can watch the video, made by Joshua Britt & Neilson Hubbard at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios, where the album was recorded, here. They kick off their Western US tour this weekend.

Congratulations to Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, who won three IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards at the ceremony hosted by Tuttle and Ketch Secor in Raleigh, North Carolina, last night. Tuttle and the band took home the Album of the Year Award for their debut album, Crooked Tree (which won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album), and Song of the Year for that album’s title track, written by Tuttle and Melody Walker, and Tuttle was named Female Vocalist of the Year, which she won last year as well. Tuttle and the band perform at IBMA World of Bluegrass on Saturday.

The line-up for the 2024 Big Ears Festival—taking place in downtown Knoxville, TN, March 21–24—has been announced, including more than a dozen Nonesuch artists past, present, and future, in celebration of the label’s 60th anniversary in 2024: Sam Amidon, Laurie Anderson, Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society, Tyondai Braxton, Rhiannon Giddens, Mary Halvorson, Robin Holcomb, Wayne Horvitz, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Brad Mehldau, Ringdown (Caroline Shaw and Danni Lee), Davóne Tines, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, and Yasmin Williams.

Molly Tuttle and Golden Highway have announced a US East Coast "Next Rodeo" tour for November, with stops in Brooklyn, Burlington, Albany, Portland, Boston, DC, and more. These follow their recently announced West Coast "Road to El Dorado" run in October, with stops at Portland, Seattle, Boise, Salt Lake City, and Denver, and more.

Molly Tuttle is on The Bluegrass Situation's Basic Folk podcast hosted by Cindy Howes and Lizzie No. Tuttle, The Bluegrass Situation Artist of the Month, returns to the show to talk about City of Gold, her new album with her band Golden Highway. “She’s writing bluegrass songs that are fun and insightful at the same time,” says Howes. “Molly Tuttle is a great hang, an inspiration for us all and has made a fabulous new album, City of Gold.” You can hear their conversation here.

Tuttle and the band are up for Entertainer of the Year and Instrumental Group of the Year; Album of the Year for their debut album, Crooked Tree (which won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album); and Song of the Year for that album’s title track. Tuttle is up for Female Vocalist of the Year (which she won last year) and Guitar Player of the Year (which she won in 2017 and 2018; Punch Brothers' Chris Eldridge is also a nominee this year), and Bronwyn Keith-Hynes for Fiddle Player of the Year (which she won last year and in 2021). They are due to perform at IBMA World of Bluegrass in Raleigh on September 30. Their second album, City of Gold, is out this Friday.

Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, while at the Railbird Festival in Lexington, KY, earlier this month, performed a live session for Holler. The set includes two songs from their upcoming album, City of Gold—“Down Home Dispensary” and “Next Rodeo”—and a new song, “Wild Things.” “What's most evident ... is the unspoken synergy Tuttle has found with her like-minded friends in the band,” writes Holler’s Ross Jones. “You'll find it hard to find another band that are having as much fun doing what they do as a group than these five, and it's a pleasure to witness." Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway have released “San Joaquin,” a new song from their upcoming album, City of Gold, due July 21. "I’ve always loved singing songs about trains, and this one takes place in my home state of California," Tuttle says. "Ketch [Secor] and I had the idea for writing ‘San Joaquin’ while looking at a map of different train lines that run through the state. Ketch loves writing geographical songs, and I have many fond memories of road trips taken through the Central Valley when I was a kid, so we dreamed up this story of a wild ride down the San Joaquin railway.” You can watch the video and a live performance of the track here.
