Molly Tuttle was on California Now, a podcast exploring the people and places of the state, to talk about Grass Valley, the Northern California site of the annual Father’s Day Bluegrass Festival, which the South Bay–raised artist would attend with her dad and where she was first exposed to the bluegrass music that inspired her to play. Tuttle wrote the song “Grass Valley” for Crooked Tree, her Grammy-nominated Nonesuch debut album with her band Golden Highway. You can hear what she had to say and a solo performance she made of the song and the album's title track for the show here.

Molly Tuttle and Golden Highway have released a cover of Jefferson Airplane’s 1967 hit "White Rabbit," available only on Amazon Music. "I have loved the story of Alice In Wonderland since I read the book as a kid and played the Queen of Hearts in my school play,” Tuttle says. "Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane is from Palo Alto, CA, just like me, and this song gives me the nostalgic feeling of growing up, but recording it also pushed my band forward into new territory musically." Molly Tuttle is the guest on the latest episode of The Bluegrass Situation's Basic Folk podcast hosted by Cindy Howes and Lizzie No. She talks with No about her career in music, not least Crooked Tree, her new album with her band Golden Highway. “I am such a huge fan of Molly Tuttle,” says No. “I feel like what I love most about her is her songwriting, even though for many people her dazzling guitar playing is the star of the show … Her new record is a study of bluegrass sensitively executed by one of the genre’s stars. Molly’s interpretations of bluegrass traditions like the murder ballad, shiny stacked vocal harmonies, and lightning fast guitar playing are something to behold.” You can hear their conversation here.
