This summer, Rhiannon Giddens was joined by Joe Henry on guitar, Tony Garnier on bass, Diego Schissi on piano, and Gustaf Llunggren on pedal steel on stage at the Aarhus Festival in Denmark. They performed "She's Got You," which Giddens also performs on her solo debut album, Tomorrow Is My Turn. "I love this version for the dynamics," she says, "and the way we are all listening to each other with every fiber of our being." Giddens is currently touring the US.

Rhiannon Giddens, currently touring the US, recently participated in the NPR Music panel discussion Songs We Love: Americana Fest Edition. The event was led by NPR music critic Ann Powers, who assembled what she called her "dream team"— Giddens, Patty Griffin, Shakey Graves—for a conversation and performances of some of their favorite songs. Giddens is "one of the great song interpreters of our time," says Powers. Rhiannon Giddens continues to tour this fall, in support of her solo debut album, Tomorrow Is My Turn, starting today in Louisville, Kentucky. She stops in 33 cities, including newly announced dates in November, which go on sale on Friday. Giddens gave a show-stopping performance of "Waterboy" from the album at the Americana Awards in Nashville last night. Highlights from the ceremony will air on PBS's Austin City Limits on November 21. In addition, she participated in NPR Music's Songs We Love: Americana Edition, which will be posted to npr.org/music.

Rhiannon Giddens and Ry Cooder will be among the performers at the Americana Honors & Awards show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on September 16. Cooder is also among the presenters, as are Rodney Crowell and Punch Brothers' Noam Pikelny. The show will broadcast live on SiriusXM's Outlaw Country and will stream live via NPR Music. PBS will air highlights from the show November 21 on Austin City Limits. Giddens, Punch Brothers, and Carolina Chocolate Drops' Hubby Jenkins are all nominees. Giddens will also take part in NPR Music's "Songs We Love: Americana Edition" event with critic Ann Powers earlier September 16.

Rhiannon Giddens and Punch Brothers' double bill at the Southern Fried Festival in Perth, Scotland, on Friday was featured on a two-hour show of festival highlights on BBC Radio Scotland's Another Country with Ricky Ross. The concert earned perfect five star reviews from both the Scotsman and the Herald Scotland, which calls Giddens' set "sensational" and Punch Brothers' "breath-taking."

Rhiannon Giddens, Punch Brothers, and Olivia Chaney all performed at the Cambridge Folk Festival this weekend, and judging by the Guardian review, all went well, to say the least. "Giddens was a revelation" and "Chaney showed how it should be sung," says the Guardian's Robin Denselow of their Saturday sets, and "the finest performance of the night came from one of the most inventive acoustic bands on the planet," says Denselow of Punch Brothers' "magnificent" Sunday set. Rhiannon Giddens has written a new song, entitled "Cry No More," in response to the tragic shooting of nine parishioners at the Emanuel AME church in Charleston, SC, in June. She brought together friends and band members to film a video for the song, which she co-wrote with her sister Lalenja Harrington, at the United Congregational Church in her home town of Greensboro, NC. Rhiannon Giddens's album Tomorrow Is My Turn is among NPR Music's 25 Favorite Albums of 2015 (So Far). "The first thought that takes over during a listen to Rhiannon Giddens' solo debut is: This woman can sing anything," exclaims NPR. "Stop marveling for a moment and this impeccably constructed, hotly executed collection reveals the brain and soul that feed the extraordinary voice." She kicks off a European tour in London on Tuesday. Also on the list is the debut album from Congolese band Mbongwana Star, From Kinshasa. The album, a World Circuit release distributed in North America by Nonesuch, "is at once earthy and totally futuristic," says NPR. "[Y]ou hear the band's metamorphic power throttling straight into the fringes of the great beyond."

Rhiannon Giddens, Emmylou Harris, and Rodney Crowell 's very special performance in The Gospel Tradition: In Performance at the White House, from April, receives its TV broadcast premiere on PBS stations across the US this Friday, June 26, at 9 PM ET. They join President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama and an esteemed group of performers, including Aretha Franklin, Darlene Love, and Lyle Lovett, to pay tribute to the fundamental role gospel music has played in the American musical tradition. The 42nd annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival kicks off in Telluride, Colorado, on Thursday and continues through the weekend to coincide with the summer solstice, with main-stage performances from Rhiannon Giddens, Punch Brothers, Chris Thile & Edgar Meyer, and Ry Cooder; a FirstGrass set from Giddens tonight; and a closing NightGrass show from Punch Brothers on Sunday. Rhiannon Giddens's debut solo album, Tomorrow Is My Turn, has been named to Rolling Stone's list of the 45 Best Albums of 2015 So Far. "Over the past two years, Rhiannon Giddens has become one of the most promising voices in American roots music," exclaims Rolling Stone. On the album, she gives classic songs made famous by Nina Simone, Dolly Parton, Odetta, and more "a freshness and vitality that feel right at home in 2015." Also on the list is the debut album from Congolese band Mbongwana Star, From Kinshasa. The album, a World Circuit release distributed in North America by Nonesuch, is a "heady and high-energy Afrofuturist collaboration," says Rolling Stone.

Rhiannon Giddens joins Branford Marsalis and Friends for a special North Carolina Symphony benefit concert in Raleigh tonight. On the program, she performs the title track to her new album, Tomorrow Is My Turn, as well as other classic tunes including "La vie en rose." While preparing for the concert, she recorded an intimate guitar-and-vocal version of the song made famous by Edith Piaf on a video you can watch here. Giddens' tour continues next week at the Three Rivers Arts Festival in Pittsburgh, one of several festival sets to come, including Bonnaroo and Telluride Bluegrass.
