The Americana Music Association announced today its nominations for the 2015 Americana Honors & Awards, and among the nominees are Rhiannon Giddens for Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for her T Bone Burnett-produced solo debut album, Tomorrow Is My Turn; Punch Brothers for Duo/Group of the Year; and Carolina Chocolate Drops' own Hubby Jenkins for Instrumentalist of the Year. The Americana Honors & Awards return to the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on September 16.

Celebrate Brooklyn!—one of New York City's longest running, free, outdoor performing arts festivals—has announced the complete line-up for this summer's concert series in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. Among the featured performers this year are Nonesuch artists Punch Brothers, Rhiannon Giddens, and Sam Amidon with Bill Frisell. Rhiannon Giddens was the musical guest on CBS This Morning: Saturday, performing two songs from her recently released debut solo album, Tomorrow Is My Turn—"Black Is the Color" and "She's Got You"—as well as "Spanish Mary," from the New Basement Tapes album Lost on the River. But her attitude is humble and her personality is down to earth," writes the Chicago Tribune of a recent tour stop. "With equal helpings of confidence and respect, she nimbly saluted her idols while giving their iconic work a fresh spin."

Rhiannon Giddens was the subject of a feature on PBS NewsHour, looking at her solo debut album, Tomorrow Is My Turn. "Her debut celebrates women who influenced her, some famous like Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline, others, like Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Libba Cotten, much less so," says NewsHour's Jeffrey Brown. The Big Ears Festival 2015, which took place in Knoxville, Tennessee, late last month, was the subject of a feature profile on PBS NewsHour on Friday. The piece looks at how the festival "breaks barriers for open-minded music lovers," not least from performers like this year's artists in residence, Kronos Quartet, and their fellow Nonesuch artists to perform at Big Ears, Rhiannon Giddens, Laurie Anderson, Sam Amidon, and Tyondai Braxton. Rhiannon Giddens, Emmylou Harris, and Rodney Crowell will perform in "The Gospel Tradition," at The White House on Tuesday, April 14, as part of the series In Performance at the White House. They will join President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama and an esteemed group of performers, including Aretha Franklin, Darlene Love, and Lyle Lovett, to pay tribute to the fundamental role gospel music has played in the American musical tradition. The President’s remarks and the entire event will be streamed live at whitehouse.gov/live at 7 PM ET. The Gospel Tradition: In Performance at the White House will air on PBS on Friday, June 26.

Rhiannon Giddens kicks off her spring tour, featuring music from her new debut solo album Tomorrow Is My Turn, with two performances at the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee, this weekend. The tour continues through June, with stops in cities and at festivals along the way, including New York City (April 9 at The Town Hall), Chicago (April 23 at The Vic), Los Angeles (May 9 at El Rey Theatre), and the Bonnaroo and Telluride Bluegrass festivals in June. Giddens’ bandmates from Carolina Chocolate Drops—multi-instrumentalist Hubby Jenkins, cellist Malcolm Parson, and multi-instrumentalist Rowan Corbett—are part of the touring band.

The 2015 Big Ears Festival takes place in Knoxville, Tennessee, this weekend including performances from artists-in-residence Kronos Quartet, Laurie Anderson, Rhiannon Giddens, Sam Amidon, and Tyondai Braxton. The line-up for the 2015 Cambridge Folk Festival has been expanded, and among the newly announced performers at this year's festival are Punch Brothers, Rhiannon Giddens, and Olivia Chaney. The four-day festival takes place at Cherry Hinton Hall in Cambridge, England, and runs from July 30 to August 2. Tickets are on sale now.

Rhiannon Giddens has announced European tour dates for the summer, featuring music from her debut solo album, Tomorrow Is My Turn. The shows begin June 30 at Islington Assembly Hall in London with stops in Paris, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Stuttgart, and Dublin, culminating at the Cambridge Folk Festival on August 1. Tickets go on sale starting this Friday, March 20. Giddens and the band kick off a US tour at the Big Ears Festival on March 28.

Rhiannon Giddens' solo recording debut, Tomorrow Is My Turn, produced by T Bone Burnett, was released last month on CD and digitally and is now available on vinyl. The LP edition is pressed on 140-gram, audiophile vinyl and includes a CD of the complete album. The New York Times calls it "a showcase for Ms. Giddens’s glorious voice," and Rolling Stone dubs her "one of the most promising voices in American roots music." Rhiannon Giddens was the guest on NPR's World Cafe yesterday; her spring tour begins later this month at the Big Ears Festival.
