Devendra Banhart stopped by WNYC Studios as the guest on New Sounds' Soundcheck to talk with host John Schaefer about his new album, Ma, and perform three songs from it: "Is This Nice?," "Carolina," and "Taking a Page." Rhiannon Giddens was on WBUR's On Point to discuss her new album, there is no Other, and the cultural origins of music. "With her most recent record, Giddens wildly expands the scope of her musical excavations," says host Meghna Chakrabarti. "In it, Giddens show us how a chord or a drumbeat contains histories of Africa, Arabic influences, European additions, and the mix that became American music."

Live from Here with Chris Thile will kick off its fourth season from its new broadcast home, The Town Hall in NYC, on September 7. The new dates include guest performances from Lake Street Dive's own Rachael Price, Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend, The Lumineers, Raphael Saadiq, Trey Anastasio, The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Jamila Woods, and more.

The Black Keys were guests on NPR's World Cafe on Friday. Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney spoke with host Talia Schlanger about their songwriting process, life on the road, and their return to the studio to make their new album, "Let's Rock." They also share a live performance of four songs: "Eagle Birds" and "Go" from the new album, and earlier songs "I Got Mine" and "Lonely Boy." Hear it here.

Gaby Moreno was on WNYC's All of It on Friday to perform a few songs, including "Across the Borderline" from her upcoming album, ¡Spangled!, and talk with host Alison Stewart; you can hear it here. Later that night, she led a multi-artist concert for Celebrate Brooklyn!, welcoming several guest artists including Jackson Browne, with whom she sang "Across the Borderline," and Oscar Isaac. They closed the show with a fitting finale of "Fare Thee Well." "Bidding the crowd farewell, their three voices rose beautifully into the Brooklyn night," says Billboard. 

Daughter of Swords recently stopped by WFUV in NYC to perform an FUV Live set of two songs from her debut album, Dawnbreaker: the title track and "Shining Woman." You can watch the performances here. No Depression says of the new album: "Dawnbreaker is the companion we need for those long, solitary summer drives or walks where we allow our minds to wander and imagine the possibilities we’ve not yet discovered for ourselves." 

The Black Keys were on NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday to discuss their new album, "Let's Rock." "We just kind of have always had this connection, where we can make music without really talking about it or thinking about it," says Dan Auerbach. "And when we were sixteen, that's why—that's what we realized right away. We just started playing, and it worked, you know? And that's just how it's always been." Patrick Carney adds: "I think this record—it made the most sense just to keep it simple and bring it back to the basics, which was just guitar and drums." You can hear the full interview here.

Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrisi were on NPR's World Cafe to perform from the new album there is no Other and talk with host Talia Schlanger. It's "a fascinating collaboration," says Schlanger. "Both Rhiannon and Francesco are devoted students of music history whose mission is to use the past to illuminate the present and to give credit where credit’s due for the way instruments and ideas have moved over time between people. Jonny Greenwood is on NPR's All Songs Considered. He talks with NPR's Bob Boilen and Tom Huizenga about his own music—his There Will Be Blood soundtrack and two new pieces just given their premiere in a NPR's Tiny Desk Concert—and shares some works that have inspired him, by New Order, Olivier Messiaen, Krzysztof Penderecki, and Steve Reich. Yola was a guest on NPR's World Cafe. She spoke with host Talia Schlanger about her life and music and performed three songs from her Dan Auerbach-produced debut album, Walk Through Fire from Auerbach's Easy Eye Studio. The songs on the album "ring out with the triumphant air of someone who has withstood the flames and the heat en route to achieving their dreams," says Schlanger. Attacca Quartet performed music from Caroline Shaw’s Orange live at The Greene Space in NYC last Friday, ahead of the album’s release this coming Friday. The performance was streamed live via WNYC's New Sounds and can be seen again in full here. Shaw was the featured artist on the first episode in the new series of BBC Radio 3’s Unclassified, showcasing "genre-exploding new music for curious ears, hearts and minds," on Sunday. "I love it ... absolutely gorgeous music," says presenter Elizabeth Alker, who gave the radio premiere plays of two album tracks.
